Scottish water industry economic regulator

The Water Industry Commission for Scotland acts is the economic regulator of the Scottish water industry. It is responsible for awarding licences to water and sewerage suppliers.
It also sets out rules for the suppliers, which state:
- All suppliers have to offer a common set of default tariffs. These are equal to the tariffs that customers would have paid if Scottish Water had remained the sole business provider.
- All suppliers in the Scottish water industry must also offer default levels of service.
- All suppliers have to sign up to the market and operational codes.
The Water Industry Commission for Scotland promotes the interests of water and sewerage customers, helping to ensure that they receive a high-quality service and value for money.
You should contact the Commission if you want to know more about:
- Your choice of supplier and how to contact them.
- Self-supply, which involves buying water wholesale for all of the sites you own or operate.
- How to become a water supplier.
- The default tariffs and levels of service all providers must supply.
- The Commission's work for customers.
- Who to contact if you are not happy with your service.
